The web is a fantastic thing. Really, it is. You can find videos of girls fighting, pictures of cats drinking out of the toilet and download any magazine free of charge (I wouldn’t suggest the last one).

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson on Halo's M12 FAV Warthog

Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson on Halo’s M12 FAV Warthog

Forza Motorsport 4 is about to be released and one of the vehicles you’ll be able to drive is Halo’s M12 FAV Warthog. The short review is by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson who puts his typical British spin on this cool offroader. Now, I’m not sure at what capacity you’re going to be able to drive this thing, or even if the guns will work, but it’s an awesome addition to the game. I just hope Turn 10 gives us a good reason to WANT to drive it.

VRC Pro RC Video Game

VRC Pro RC Video Game

I enjoy the competitive part of racing, whether it be RC, full scale or of the video game type. Most of the games I play are on my XBox 360. Forza Motorsport, for instance, is a fabulous game that has you driving real cars (production and race) around 40+ tracks from around the globe. It’s fun, but it’s certainly a game since I know I’ll never have the opportunity to drive 500+ HP Nissan GT-R around the Nurburgring (oh, how I want to though!).

Death of my XBox 360

Death of my XBox 360

Well, it finally happened…again. About a year ago my XBox sported the nasty Red Ring on a cold, wintery night. I was able to take it apart and perform the ‘washer’ fix and it’s been a gem ever since. Well, ever since last night. In the middle of a good ol’ game of Call of Duty: Black Ops, I was chasing down a bad guy to get another backstabber kill when…brrrrrrrrrrrrr, the system froze. At first I thought it was the game (or the horrible Treyarch servers), but after sitting there for about 5 minutes I figured it might be the system. I rebooted, got back in the game and finished off the night…no worries.

Axial XR10 Rock Crawler

My AWCC Event Experience with my Axial XR10 Crawler

During the week of June 22-27, I took a short trip up to Cisco Grove California for the 2011 AWCC event (AWCC is the Axial West Coast Championships). This is the premier event for RC Rock Crawling and, well, this not only would be my first rock crawling event, it would ALSO be my first time actually DRIVING an RC Rock Crawler. So, ya, this ought to be interesting.

Project RC Car: Axial SCX10 Scaler

Project RC Car: Axial SCX10 Scaler

A few of my fellow racers have shifted their RC focus towards an ever-growing segment of our industry…rock crawling. While I’ve never tried my hand at competitive crawling, I have bashed around the local riverbeds with a few ‘rental’ rides and did have a good time. What we have here, however, is my first attempt at building a scale rock crawler. It’s based off of an Axial SCX10 but has been completely reworked from head to toe for the ultimate in scale goodness. Since this is going to be a project for the pages of RC Driver Magazine, I had a chance to really do it up with the best equipment out there. Here is a quick list of the manufacturers that were used in the build:

Tamiya TA05 VDF Gold Edition Drift Car

New Drifty-Toy; The Tamiya TA05 VDF Gold Edition Drift Car

Living in Southern California, you get exposed to quite an array of motorsporting events. Road-cars, short course, motorcross and, of course, drifting. While I’m sure I have the skill to do all of those (uh, ya), money is a bit tight and requires me to find a different outlet to cure my need for speed.

Kyosho Birel Nitro Go Kart

Kyosho Birel Nitro Go Kart

Got this cool new Kyosho Birel Nitro Go Kart to review for RC Driver Magazine. Even though it’s powered by a teeny .15-size nitro engine, it should scoot since it weighs nothing! Tires, thankfully, seem nice and soft since there isn’t any suspension, just like the real thing. Can’t wait to drive it! Going to try to get to it this week.

OC Circuit’s 2011 Surf City 700 Endurance Race

OC Circuit’s 2011 Surf City 700 Endurance Race

This past weekend, a couple buddies recruited me to run a 3-hour onroad endurance race at OC Circuits 2011 Surf City 700 Endurance Race. Typically I don’t like running those because it ends up in disaster depending on the other members of the team. This time, however, I knew both drivers were smooth, consistent types and would fit in well with my driving style; ie, they could keep the car on the track for all 3 hours.

My SC8e at the Short Course Nationals

Cool Internet Short Course Article That Mentions Me!

While doing my normal, daily uber-Google usage (there is never a lack of fun, witty or downright stupid stuff to learn on the internet), I came across an article about the 2009 Short Course Nationals held at RC Madness in Connecticut. Ok, so? Well, cool thing was the site in which I found it…Off-Road.com. This site is the online version of VerticalScopes publication, Off-Road Magazine.
